Landscaped riverside lawns facing the buildings of Ram ki Paidi in Ayodhya

Ram Katha Park

Open-air theatre by the river

Ram Katha Park is a landscaped open space near the Saryu with lawns and a large open-air amphitheatre. It was created as a venue for telling the story of Ram — through Ramlila, devotional music, dance and discourse.

During Deepotsav it hosts the main stage events, including the ceremonial welcome of actors portraying Ram, Sita and Lakshman. On ordinary days it is simply a green, quiet place to sit near the river.

Ramlila troupes, bhajan evenings and cultural programmes are held here at festival times. There is no fixed year-round schedule; ask at your hotel or the tourist office.

Rest on the lawns

After a day on stone floors and in queues, the park is a welcome place for children and elders to sit before the evening aarti.
